A recap of the nine types

Refresh the main Enneagram ideas. For more context on each description, follow the profile and map links.

Reminders

A type + a wing + an instinctual variant (subtype) + a level of development + the movement of integration or disintegration + the mood of the day.

No type is better or worse. The numbering is not a ranking. Each type is unique. Nobody is a type: a person is in a type.

  • There are nine types. Each person identifies with one.
  • The type does not change. We change.
  • We have traits of all nine, but our type's worldview runs the show.
  • Passion and fixation count more than typical behavior.
  • The type is a defense and a reduced state of awareness.
